The average person on the street can learn a few basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves for self defense.
I am going to share an idea with you that some women have used successfully as a result of training Jiu Jitsu.
The basic moves in Jiu Jitsu are many and most of them are very useful in street fighting and self defense. By the way, just because I am saying they are ‘basic’ does not mean that they are very effective.
Many of the top Jiu Jitsu instructors and competitors fall back on and use very often many of the basic moves. The basic moves are your foundation in Jiu Jitsu, in which you build upon.
For example, a very effective basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu technique a man or a woman can learn fairly quickly is the triangle and arm bar from guard (meaning the woman is on the bottom).
The reason learning how to do an arm bar or triangle from the bottom is because, unfortunately, most women are going to be smaller and not as strong as a man, and therefore will end up on the bottom.
